As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and hands-on Workshop Trades Assistant to join our CDC Workshop team based in Mulgrave, VIC.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Trades Assistant plays an important role supporting the build, assembly, servicing and maintenance of Caterpillar power generation equipment within our CDC workshop.
This role is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and wants to develop their career within a world-class organisation. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, engineers and workshop personnel contributing to major customer projects across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
Support engine build-up, workshop assembly and pre-delivery activities
Assist with repair work, maintenance and minor servicing tasks
Work collaboratively with workshop technicians, engineers and subcontractors
Support workshop administration and documentation requirements
Assist with quality inspections, testing and build records
Maintain workshop equipment, tools and housekeeping standards
Participate in safety activities, toolbox talks and continuous improvement initiatives
Follow all workshop procedures, work instructions and safety requirements
Assist with loading, moving and handling workshop materials and equipment
Provide general workshop support across customer projects and rental equipment activities
About You:
Mechanical experience or strong mechanical aptitude
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, service manuals or schematics
Strong safety mindset and commitment to quality workmanship
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new systems
Reliable, positive and team-focused attitude
Ability to work collaboratively in a workshop environment
Highly regarded:
Mechanical trade qualification or trade assistant experience
First Aid qualification
Overhead crane experience
Dogging and/or Rigging licence
Experience within heavy equipment, power generation, automotive, manufacturing or industrial environments
